    Sujet
Mct1 (Monocarboxylate transporter 1) functions as a Proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter. Mct1 (Monocarboxylate transporter 1) catalyzes the rapid transport across the plasma membrane of many monocarboxylates such as lactate, pyruvate, branched-chain oxo acids derived from leucine, valine and isoleucine, and the ketone bodies acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate and acetate. Mct1 (Monocarboxylate transporter 1) is a multi-pass membrane protein. Major isoform present in tumor cells, erythrocytes. Mct1 belongs to the major facilitator superfamily and Monocarboxylate porter (TC 2.A.1.13) family.
Synonyms: Slc16a1 (Solute carrier family 16 member 1)
