positivity for DDX4 gene was detected in 17 of 39 males with nonobstructive azoospermia which was due to maturation arrest in 35.3% of cases, due to incomplete Sertoli cell only in 23.5% and due to complete Sertoli cell only in 41.2%.
Results suggest that DDX4 positively regulates cell cycle progression of diverse somatic-derived blood cancer cells, implying its broad contributions to the cancer cell phenotype.
DDX4 cell-free seminal mRNA was absent in 44% of Sertoli cell-only syndrome cases diagnosed by testicular histopathology, but present in all patients presenting with maturation arrest or hypospermatogenesis
The 20-mer peptide (residues 228-247) of human DDX-4, an ATP-dependent RNA helicase known to regulate germ cell development, binds to a unique shallow binding surface on RanBPM formed by highly conserved loops on the surface of the beta-sheet with two aspartates on one end, a positive patch on the opposite end, and a tryptophan lining at the bottom of the surface.
Data show that intrinsically disordered N terminus of DEAD-box RNA helicase (Montrer DDX5 Anticorps) Ddx4 forms organelles in HeLa cells and in vitro.
this study reports the first analysis and comparison of the expression patterns and colocalization of DDX4 and CD133 in 59 ovarian cancer patients via tissue microarray and immunofluorescence analysis to identify the expression patterns and relationship of those two markers in ovarian cancer cells.
Data suggest that VASA shows differential expression in ovary; in resting primordial follicle reserve in childhood/pre-puberty, VASA is associated with Balbiani's body space in germ cell; once follicle enters growing pool, VASA is undetectable.
Vasa/Ddx4 gene can be involved in regulation of ground and primed states of pluripotency
overexpression of VASA and or DAZL (Montrer DAZL Anticorps), in both embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells promoted differentiation into primordial germ cells, and maturation and progression through meiosis was enhanced.
Report the generation/characterization of embryonic stem cell lines carrying a VASA-pEGFP-1 reporter construct that expresses GFP in a population of differentiating cells showing expression of characteristic markers of primordial germ cells.
BHR also decreased the mRNA level of MVH in the bone marrow, and increased mRNA and protein level of MVH in the ovary o fpremature ovarian failure mice
Hgher expression levels of ~55-60 kDa MVH isoform in the ovaries were followed by the accumulations of preovulatory follicles.
In mouse oocytes the mitochondrion-originated germinal body-like structures accumulate MVH protein.
The results indicate the presence of a developmentally regulated mechanism in which Hat1 (Montrer HAT1 Anticorps) and p46 (Montrer POLDIP3 Anticorps) control the physiology of the chromatoid body by acetylation of MVH.
SPSB1 (Montrer SPSB1 Anticorps) and SPSB4 bind strongly to both Par-4 (Montrer F2RL3 Anticorps) and VASA peptides.
MVH plays crucial roles in the early phase of the ping-pong amplification cycle
The RNA helicase (Montrer DHX9 Anticorps) Vasa is another essential protein in germline development and arginine methylation is conserved across phyla
Data show that RanBPM and mouse vasa homolog (Mvh) are closely associated with perinuclear RNA-protein complexes and chromatoid bodies, and suggests a functional relationship between translational regulation and microtubule nucleation during meiosis.
Dazl (Montrer DAZL Anticorps) stimulates translation via the Mvh 3'-UTR (Montrer UTS2R Anticorps). Dazl (Montrer DAZL Anticorps)-mediated regulation of Mvh translation is crucial for mammalian spermatogenesis
These results suggest that DDX4 and c-kit are putative markers of undifferentiated spermatogonia in the prepubertal porcine testis.
These results demonstrate that testicular cell-surface DDX4-immunoreactive cells are not germ cells and constitute a distinct subpopulation that is different from gonocytes.
Porcine Vasa Homolog (pvh) is specifically expressed in germ cell lineages, and can be a useful marker for germ cell development in pigs.
Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (Montrer BMP4 Anticorps) and retinoic acid trigger bovine VASA homolog expression in differentiating bovine induced pluripotent stem cells.
VASA was highly represented in the testis and the ovary, and still present in the oocyte from antral follicles.
The expression of VASA in bovine fetuses is reported.
The RNA helicase (Montrer DDX46 Anticorps) Vasa is another essential protein in germline development and arginine methylation is conserved across phyla
XVLG1 protein in pPGC is not sufficient to increase the number of primordial germ cells in the tadpoles
Xdsg protein in pPGCs may play an important role in the formation of PGCs by regulating the production of XVLG1 protein
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. This gene encodes a DEAD box protein, which is a homolog of VASA proteins in Drosophila and several other species. The gene is specifically expressed in the germ cell lineage in both sexes and functions in germ cell development. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
