Xenopus laevis ST8 alpha-N-Acetyl-Neuraminide alpha-2,8-Sialyltransferase 1 (ST8SIA1) interaction partners

  1. Results report the sequences of two ST8Sia I mRNAs found in Xenopus laevis and their genomic organization; the canonical form resulted constituted of 5 exons and 4 introns, while the "short" mRNA lacks of the exon 2.

  2. Maternal Xlgd3 synthase mRNA could not be detected and showed a steady-state expression from gastrula to late tailbud stage.

Human ST8 alpha-N-Acetyl-Neuraminide alpha-2,8-Sialyltransferase 1 (ST8SIA1) interaction partners

  1. these data demonstrate the mechanism by which ST8SIA1 regulates tumor growth and metastasis in triple-negative breast cancer.

  2. These results suggest that curcumin controls hST8Sia I gene expression via AMPK signal pathway in A549 cells.

  3. These results from genotype-phenotype analysis might suggest a possible link between the ST8SIA1 functional promoter haplotype and the clinical severity of TAO [thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy].

  4. altered expression of miR-33a/let-7e was correlated with ST8SIA1 level, which might contribute to CRC progression

  5. Data suggest that ganglioside glycosyltransferases ST3GAL5, ST8SIA1, and B4GALNT1 are S-acylated at conserved cysteine residues located close to cytoplasmic border of their transmembrane domains; ST3Gal-II is acylated at conserved cysteine residue in N-terminal cytoplasmic tail; for B4GALNT1 and ST3Gal-II, dimer formation controls their S-acylation status.

  6. GD3 and GD3S are highly expressed in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) stem cell, play a key role in glioblastoma tumorigenicity, and are potential therapeutic targets against GBM.

  7. Results show that GD3S regulates stem cell function via c-Met and the expression of GD3S is regulated by FOXC2, a transcription factor functioning downstream of several epithelial-mesenchymal transition signaling pathways.

  8. our study provides support for the GD3-induced cell cycle arrest, disruption of integrin-b1-mediated anchorage, inhibition of angiogenesis and thereby induced apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells.

  9. Though results are limited by the small sample size, variants in BDNF and ST8SIA may slow down the early response to antidepressants in subjects non-exposed to stressors at the illness onset, with a remarkable gene-environment interaction

  10. TNF-alpha and IL-6 secreted from keratinocytes enhanced ST8SIA1 expression in melanocytes.

  11. This indicates that ST8Sia I is able to act as an oligosialyltransferase in a cellular context.

  12. Results show that G(D3) synthase expression is sufficient to enhance the tumorigenicity of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells through a ganglioside-dependent activation of the c-Met receptor.

  13. GD3 has a role in hypoxia susceptibility by disabling the c-Src/NF-kappaB survival pathway resulting in lower Mn-SOD expression

  14. down regulation of GD3 synthase is associated with reduction in GD3 ganglioside expression affecting tumorigenesis and metastasis in F-11 cells.

  15. Human GD3 synthase gene consisted of five exons and span about 135 kilobases. The 5'-flanking region lacked canonical TATA and CAAT boxes, but contained SP1 binding site(s) as in rat and mouse

  16. findings suggest that the disialoganglioside(GD3) synthase gene represents a physiological modulator of vascular smooth muscle cell responses that may contribute to plaque instability in atherosclerosis

  17. has an apoptotic effect on ECV304 cells through downregulation of Bcl-2 expression via dephosphorylation of AKT and CREB

  18. calnexin controls the biological outcome of GD3 accumulation and reveals a novel role in the stress response

  2. Targeted deletion of GD3S protects substantia nigra degeneration and prevents motor deficits associated with MPTP-poisoning.

  3. leptin/ObRb-mediated signals were enhanced in hypothalamus of GD3S KO mice due to increased a-series gangliosides, leading to the apparently similar features of energy expenditure between the KO and wild type mice

  4. role of GD3 synthase in sciatic nerve and neuronal morphology during peripheral nerve regeneration

  5. This study demonistrated that Ganglioside deficiency(B4galnt1 and ST8SIA1 knockout mice causes inflammation and neurodegeneration via the activation of complement system in the spinal cord.

  6. Interaction of ganglioside GD3 with an EGF receptor sustains the self-renewal ability of mouse neural stem cells in vitro.

  7. The results of this study indicated that destruction of glycolipid-enriched microdomain is caused by ganglioside deficiency with gradual intensity depending on the degree of defects of their compositions.

  8. This study showed that NMJs of old mice lacking GD3-synthase (expressing only O- and a-series gangliosides), which do not show an overt neurological phenotype but may develop subclinical synaptic deficits

  9. GD3 has a role in hypoxia susceptibility by disabling the c-Src/NF-kappaB survival pathway resulting in lower Mn-SOD expression

  10. Molecular cloning and expression and sialylation of O-glycans

  11. alpha2,8-sialyltransferase has roles in cell proliferation and mobility

  12. The results of this study indicate that synaptic transmission at the NMJ is not crucially dependent on the particular presence of most ganglioside family members.

ST8SIA1 profil antigène

Antigen Summary

Gangliosides are membrane-bound glycosphingolipids containing sialic acid. Ganglioside GD3 is known to be important for cell adhesion and growth of cultured malignant cells. The protein encoded by this gene is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to GM3 to produce gangliosides GD3 and GT3. The encoded protein may be found in the Golgi apparatus and is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29.
