Sujet
- FSH is an anterior pituitary hormone which is glycosylated to around 16-30 % of its molecular weight. It is composed of two chains, the 89 amino acid alpha-chain (common to other pituitary homones) and the beta-chain (115 aa) which is unique to FSH and confers selectivity with regards to its action. The chains are held together by non-covalent forces (ionic, hydrogen bond, Van der Waals but not disulfide bonds). Within each chain, there are disulfide bonds, 5 in the alpha- and 6 in the beta-chains.Synonyms: FSH beta, FSHB, Follitropin beta chain
