Sujet
- The Ran GTPase has important roles in nucleocytoplasmic transport, cell cycle progression, nuclear organization and nuclear envelope (NE) assembly. The small GTPase Ran is essential for spindle assembly. Ran is proposed to act through its nuclear import receptors importin and/or importin to control the sequestration of proteins necessary for spindle assembly. Ran, is required for coordinating the onset of mitosis with S-phase completion in mammalian cells. Other defects in the Ran-GTPase network also result in disruption of cell-cycle processes such as DNA replication, exit from mitosis and, at least in budding yeast, accurate chromosome segregation.Synonyms: ARA24, Androgen receptor-associated protein 24, GTP-binding nuclear protein Ran, GTPase Ran, Ras-like protein TC4, Ras-related nuclear protein
