    Sujet

The oncoretrovirus FeLV is responsible for both neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions, often resulting in a poor prognosis and fatal outcome for cats persistently infected. During persistent infection the virus, soluble viral antigens and antigen containing white blood cells are continuously present in the blood and diagnosis is mainly based upon detection of the p27 antigen - using ELISA to test for p27 as it circulates free in the bloodstream, and Immunofluorescence studies to detect p27 within the infected white cells.Synonyms: Feline Leukemia Virus
