Helios forms homo- and heterodimers with these proteins and is thought to function predominantly in early hematopoietic development. Expression of Helios, Aiolos and Ikaros is restricted to cells of the hematopoietic system, whereas other family members, Eos and Pegassus, are more widely expressed.
