Sujet
- Histones are basic nuclear proteins that together with DNA make up the nucleosome structure in eukaryotes. Nucleosomes consist of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of pairs of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4). The chromatin structure is further compacted through the interaction of a linker histone H1. Methylation of specific residues in the histone tails is a central modification for regulating epigenetic transitions in chromatin. Modified lysine residues can exist in a mono-, di-, or tri-methylated state, whilst arginine residues can be mono- or di-methylateSynonyms: H3/a, H3/b, H3/c, H3/d, H3/f, H3/h, H3/i, H3/j, H3/k, H3/l, H3FA, HIST1H3A, HIST1H3B, HIST1H3C, HIST1H3D, HIST1H3E, HIST1H3F, HIST1H3G, HIST1H3H, HIST1H3I, HIST1H3J
