- Sujet
- BRCC36, together with BRCA1, BRCA2, Rad51 and BRCC45, forms a holoenzyme complex that possesses an ubiquitin E3 ligase activity. Studies have demonstrated that BRCC36 functions in enhancing cellular survival following DNA damage and that it is essential for ionizing radiation induced BRCA1 phosphorylation and nuclear foci formation. Research has shown that BRCC36 is aberrantly expressed in the majority of breast tumours indicating a potential role in the pathogenesis of the disease. It has been hypothesized that BRCC36 could be a potentially important target in the treatment of radiation-resistant breast tumours.Synonyms: BRCA1-A complex subunit BRCC36, BRCA1/BRCA2-containing complex subunit 3, BRCA1/BRCA2-containing complex subunit 36, BRCC36, BRISC complex subunit BRCC36, C6.1A, CXorf53, Lys-63-specific deubiquitinase BRCC36
