SSTR5 is a member of the superfamily of receptors having seven transmembrane segments. SSTR5 has been reported to be expressed in adrenal, aorta, brain, breast, eye, heart, pancreas, prostate, skeletal muscle, small intestine, and thyroid. ESTs have been isolated from cartilage libraries. SSTR5 and dopamine type 2 receptors interact physically through hetero-oligomerization to create a novel receptor with enhanced functional activity (Rocheville et al., 2000).Synonyms: SS-5-R, SS5-R, SS5R, Somatostatin receptor type 5
