Sujet
- TIA1 (T-cell intracellular antigen) are mRNA-binding proteins that can aggregate within granules under specific stress conditions. TIA-1 is a multi-domain ribonucleic acid (RNA) binding protein that recognizes poly-uridine tract RNA sequences to facilitate 5'splice site recognition by the U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP). TIA1 mutation causes perturbed RNA splicing and cellular stress resulting in WDM (Welander distal myopathy). TIA-1 regulates developmental and stress-responsive pathways through distinct activities at the levels of alternative pre-mRNA splicing and mRNA translation by recognising uridine-rich sequences of RNAs.
