Synonyms: HsMAD 2, MAD 2, MAD 2A, MAD2 like 1, MAD2 like protein 1, MAD2 mitotic arrest deficient like 1, Mitotic arrest deficient yeast homolog like 1, MD2L1_HUMAN.
Background: Mad2L1 is required for the execution of the mitotic checkpoint which monitors the process of kinetochore spindle attachment and delays the onset of anaphase when this process is not complete. It inhibits the activity of the anaphase promoting complex by sequestering CDC20 until all chromosomes are aligned at the metaphase plate.
