Sujet
- Background: FOXM1 belongs to a large family of Forkhead transcription factors that possesses a winged-helix DNA-binding domain called Forkhead box (FOX). It is a transcription factor critical to cell cycle progression via its role in coordinating the G2/M phase transition. FOXM1 is ubiquitously expressed in proliferating cells but is absent in differentiated cells. FOXM1 overexpression has been detected in a variety of tumor types including breast, lung, prostate, and liver cancer, and appears to be involved in tumorigenesis-associated processes such as angiogenesis and metastasis. In light of these findings, FOXM1 has recently become an attractive target for anti-cancer therapy.
