Recent studies reveal that ESCO2 associates with components of the CoREST transcriptional repression complex. ESCO2 has also been shown to possess histone H3 K9 methylation activity. These findings suggest a role for ESCO2 in transcriptional regulation via the modulation of chromatin structure.
