- Background: MYPT1 is the non-catalytic regulatory subunit of the myosin phosphatase (MP). MYPT1 is the smooth-muscle/platelet isoform. MYPT1 is a substrate of and is regulated by Rho-protein kinase. Phosphorylation of MYPT1 by Rho kinase inhibits MP activity.
