Sujet
- Background: Ribosomal protein S6 (RPS6) is a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit. Ribosomes are composed of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit that function to catalyze protein synthesis. RPS6 is phosphorylated by many cellular kinases including ribosomal protein S6 kinase that is regulated via the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway. RPS6 has been demonstrated to be important in regulating cell size, glucose homeostasis, and translational control of mRNA.
