    Synonyms: Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SETDB2, Chronic lymphocytic leukemia deletion region gene 8 protein, Lysine N-methyltransferase 1F, SET domain bifurcated 2, SETDB2, C13orf4, CLLD8, KMT1F

Tissue Specificity: Highly expressed in reproductive organs, such as testis, ovary and prostate.

Background: Spermatogenesis-associated protein 7 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SPATA7 gene. This gene, originally isolated from testis, is also expressed in retina. Mutations in this gene are associated with Leber congenital amaurosis and juvenile retinitis pigmentosa. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
