Application Note: Parkin Protein is stored in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, 50 mM NaCl, 10 mM glutathione, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.25 mM DTT, 0.1 mM PMSF, 25 % glycerol. Parkin Protein is suitable for use in Western Blot. Expect a band approximately ~68 kDa on specific lysates or tissues. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user.

Background: Parkin or parkinson protein 2 is a RING domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase involved in proteasome-dependent degradation of proteins. Mutations in Parkin can lead to Parkinson's disease. Parkin is important for mitochondrial quality control by lysosome-dependent degradation of damaged mitochondria through autophagy, or mitophagy (1). Parkin plays an important role in directly supporting mitochondrial function and protecting mitochondrial genomic integrity from oxidative stress (2). Parkin also has essential role in regulating normal respiratory function in mitochondria and in the protection of cells from oxidative stress. PARK7 Protein is ideal for investigators involved in Signaling Proteins, Ubiquitin Proteins, Apoptosis/Autophagy, Cancer, Cell Cycle, and Neurobiology research.
