Protein Background: DNMT2 (tRNA (cytosine(38)-C(5))-methyltransferase), a member of the DNA methyltransferase superfamily, catalyzes the formation of 5-methylcytosine at position 38 in the anticodon loop of tRNAs DNMT2 regulates many cellular biological processes, especially the production of tRNA derived fragments and intergenerational transmission of paternal metabolic disorders to offspring. Moreover, DNMT2 is closely related to human cancers.
