Fonction: Collagen IV is a protein encoded by the COL4A1 gene which is approximately 160,6 kDa. Collagen IV is secreted into the extracellular space. It is involved in collagen chain trimerization, the integrin pathway, ERK signalling and focal adhesion. It is the major structural component of glomerular basement membranes and forms a chicken-wire meshwork together with laminins, proteoglycans and entactin/nidogen. It specifically inhibits endothelial cell proliferation, migration and tube formation. Collagen IV is expressed in the nervous system, liver, lung, heart and kidney. Mutations in the COL4A1 gene may result in the tortuosity of retinal arteries. STJ98907 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This antibody detects endogenous Collagen IV protein.
