TIP60 plays important roles in regulating chromatin remodeling, transcription, DNA repair and apoptosis. TIP60 causes transcription activation by acetylating nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A. Mutations at gene level are associated with diseases like HIV-1, and Kaposis sarcoma. TIP60 is mainly expressed in brain tissue.
