Sujet
- Bcl-xL is a prosurvival factor in the Bcl-2 family. It is a mitochondrial outer membrane protein that regulates the voltage-dependent anion channels (VDAC), and controls the production of reactive oxygen species and the release of cytochrome C. Bcl-xL gene knock-out resulted in embryonic lethality in animal model due to neuronal apoptosis and erythroid apoptosis. Bcl-xL is believed to be involved with the survival and differentiation of erythroid cells, iron metabolism and hemoglobin synthesis.
