Sujet
This gene encodes a class IV histone deacetylase. The encoded protein is localized to the nucleus and may be involved in regulating the expression of interleukin 10. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Function: Responsible for the deacetylation of lysine residues on the N-terminal part of the core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4) Histone deacetylation gives a tag for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. Histone deacetylases act via the formation of large multiprotein complexes. Cellular Location: Nucleus. Note=Predominantly nuclear. Tissue Location: Weakly expressed in most tissues. Strongly expressed in brain, heart, skeletal muscle, kidney and testisSynonyms: HD11, Histone deacetylase 11
