IL-4 can stimulate the growth, differentiation and maintain the viability of certain subsets of B cells and T cells. IL-4 can have a variety of biological effects on many non-lymphoid cells including endothelial cells and fibroblasts. Human IL-4 is a 14 kD protein containing 130 amino acid residues.
