Background: Endocrine Gland-derived Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (EG-VEGF) is an angiogenic growth factor specifically expressed in the ovaries, testis, adrenal and placental tissues. EG-VEGF expression correlates with vascularity in polycystic ovary syndrome, a leading cause of infertility.
