Biological Activity Comment: Cardiotrophin-1 is a member of the neuropoietic cytokine family which enhances the survival of ciliary and dopaminergic neurons through the interaction with the gp130 receptor. Cardiotrophin-1 induces cardiac myocyte hypertrophy and has been shown to promote the survival of both embryonic and neonatal rat ventricular muscle cells1-3.

Format: Lyophilized

Reconstitution: Centrifuge the vial at 10,000 x g for 5 minutes before opening to ensure all material is collected at the bottom. The lyophilized product may be difficult to visualize. Add solvent directly to the centrifuged vial and dissolve by gently tapping, tilting, or rolling the vial. Avoid vigorous vortexing, a brief, light vortex of 1-2 seconds is acceptable if necessary. Reconstitute in sterile, high-purity water at a concentration of at least 0.1 mg/mL. For long-term storage, aliquot the solution into small, single-use vials and store at -20 °C. Before use, thaw the relevant vial(s) and dilute to the desired working concentration in your working buffer. For storage of dilute working solutions, we recommend adding a carrier protein (e.g., 0.1 % BSA) to your buffer to prevent material loss due to protein adsorption. Centrifuge all product preparations before use. It is recommended to prepare fresh working solutions just before use. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles to maintain optimal biological activity.
