- Sujet
- Leptin is primarily synthesized from adipocytes and plays a major role in energy homeostasis and obesity. Leptin resistance has been proposed as a pathophysiological mechanism of obesity. In obese individuals, expression of the short form of the leptin receptor, Ob-Ra, is downregulated, and the individual may be unresponsive to leptin signals. Leptin has also been implicated in the regulation of reproduction, glucose homeostasis, bone formation, hematopoiesis, and wound healing.
