Sujet
- OCT2 is a member of the POU family of transcription factors that was found to be expressed predominantly in B lymphocytes, activated T lymphocytes, and neuronal cells. OCT2 binds to the conserved octamer DNA element, ATGCAAAT, which was discovered in the promoters and enhancers of immunoglobulin (Ig) genes. In addition to regulating Ig gene expression, OCT2 controls several B cell specific genes required for proliferation and differentiation, such as CD20, CD36, and CD79a. OCT2 was found to have different isoforms produced by alternative splicing. The OCT2 isoforms exert distinct functional activities and can act as transcriptional activators or repressors.
