Ikaros forms homo- and heterodimers with these proteins and functions predominantly in early hematopoietic development. Expression of Ikaros, Aiolos and Helios is restricted to cells of the hematopoietic system, whereas other family members, Eos and Pegassus, are more widely expressed.
