Sujet
- IGFBP6 (IGF binding protein 6) is a member of the IGFBP family that regulates the actions of IGFs. It acts extracellularly in an autocrine/paracrine manner. IGFBP6 binds preferentially to IGF-II. IGFBP6 has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumour cells and to promote apotosis. IGFBP6 has been shown to be imported into the nuclei of rhabdomyosarcoma and HEK-293 cells. This is mediated by a NLS sequence that bears limited homology to those found in IGFBP-3 and -5. Deletion of the NLS segment abolishes the pro-apoptotic effect of IGFBP6.Synonyms: IBP-6, IBP6, IGF-binding protein 6, IGFBP-6, Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 6
