PCNA is expressed in the nucleus of all proliferating cells. In response to DNA damage, it is ubiquitinated and is involved in the RAD6-dependent DNA repair pathway. PCNA is a useful marker of DNA synthesis, as its form not involved in DNA synthesis degradates in histological preparations in the presence of organic solvents.,ATLD2
