Sujet
- Background: Valosin-containing protein (VCP) is a multifunctional protein that is proposed to be involved in vesicle transport and fusion for protein trafficking, 26S proteasome function in ubiquitin-based degradation pathways, and the assembly of peroxisomes. Mutations in the human VCP gene have been associated with diseases such as inclusion body myopathy, Paget disease of the bone, and frontotemporal dementia (IBMPFD). VCP can inhibit apoptosis and may play a role in tumorigenesis.
