Sujet
- Background: Mitochondrial Antiviral-Signaling Protein (MAVS), also known as Virus-Induced Signaling Adaptor (VISA), is an adaptor protein that functions in the activation of the nuclear factor KappaB (NF-kappaB) and interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) to mediate host innate immune responses against double-stranded RNA viral infection. MAVS (VISA) is localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane. Hepatitis C virus NS3/4A protease cleaves MAVS as part of an immune-evasion strategy.
