    Sujet
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) is a tropic hormone which modulates the secretory activity of other endocrine glands. This glycoprotein hormone is produced in the anterior hypophysis of the pituitary gland. In the female an acute rise of LH the LH surge - triggers ovulation. In the male, where LH had also been called Interstitial Cell Stimulating Hormone (ICSH), it stimulates Leydig cell production of testosterone. The alpha subunits of LH, FSH, TSH, and hCG are identical, and contain 92 amino acids, the beta subunit vary. LH has a beta subunit of 121 amino acids (LHB) that confers its specific biologic action. and is responsible for interaction with the LH receptor.Synonyms: LH-B, LHB, LSH-beta, Luteinizing hormone subunit beta, Lutropin beta chain, Lutropin subunit beta
