    Commentaires

Biological activity: The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of BAF3 cells expressing FGF receptors (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is <0.5 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of 2,000,000 Units/mg.

    Procédure de l'essai

Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods 1. UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 0.8511 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1 % (1 mg/mL) solution.
    2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of Fibroblast Growth Factor-b as a Reference Standard.

    Sujet
FGF basic is one of 23 known members of the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role during prenatal development and postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF basic is a non-glycosylated heparin binding growth factor that is expressed in the brain, pituitary, kidney, retina, bone, testis, adrenal gland liver, monocytes, epithelial cells and endothelial cells. FGF basic signals through FGFR 1b, 1c, 2c, 3c and 4.
