Background: Forms a channel through the mitochondrial outer membrane that allows diffusion of small hydrophilic molecules. The channel adopts an open conformation at low or zero membrane potential and a closed conformation at potentials above 30-40 mV. The open state has a weak anion selectivity whereas the closed state is cation-selective (By similarity). Involved in plant development at reproductive stage, is important for pollen development and may regulate hydrogen peroxide generation during disease resistance.
Aliases: VDAC1 antibody, At3g01280 antibody, T22N4.9 antibody, Mitochondrial outer membrane protein porin 1 antibody, Voltage-dependent anion-selective channel protein 1 antibody, AtVDAC1 antibody, VDAC-1 antibody
