This is a synthetic peptide designed for use in combination with anti-BBS5 antibody (Catalog #: ARP52931_P050). It may block above mentioned antibody from binding to its target protein in western blot and/or immunohistochecmistry under proper experimental settings. There is no guarantee for its use in other applications.
BBS5 is a protein that has been directly linked to Bardet-Biedl syndrome. The primary features of this syndrome include retinal dystrophy, obesity, polydactyly, renal abnormalities and learning disabilities. Experimentation in non-human eukaryotes suggests that this gene is expressed in ciliated cells and that it is required for the formation of cilia. This gene encodes a protein that has been directly linked to Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Alternate transcriptional splice variants have been observed but have not been fully characterized.
