- Sujet
- Epithelium-specific gene regulation plays acritical role during embryogenesis, and the epithelial cell lineage is the first differentiated cell type to appear afterfertilization. Until recently, very few epithelial cell-restricted transcription factors had been described. Members of the ets transcription factor/oncogene family havebeen implicated in human carcinogenesis following the discovery of several distinctchromosomal translocations involving members of the ets family in different types of cancer. ets factors play key roles intranscriptional control of stringently regulated genes, such as genes involved intissue development, differentiation, angiogenesis, cell cycle control and cellproliferation. ESE-1 is the first member of the ets family that was found to be exclusively expressed and inducible inepithelial cells.
