- This product is specific for Synaptophysin, a glycoprotein located in the membrane of synaptic vesicles that is ubiquitously expressed in all neurons. It is widely used as a marker for nerve terminals and for differentiating neuroendocrine tumours. It has been used to detect the following neuronal and adrenal tumoursPheochromocytomas, paragangliomas, neuroblastomas, ganglioneuroblastomas, neuroendocrine tumours of epithelial origin, pancreatic islet cell carcinoma, bronchial and gastrointestinal carcinoids and medullary carcinoma of the thyroid.
